Our darling Captain Tightpants has expressed his interest a few days ago in playing scruffy adventurer Nathan Drake in the upcoming film adaptation of the wildly popular video game series Uncharted.
I say, make it so, fangirls (and fanboys). Our lovely Mr. Fillion is perfect for the part, IMO. He scruffs up nicely, he cracks wise with the best of them, and… well, I’ve wanted Nathan as Indiana Jones forever, and this is probably the closest I’ll get to it. Retweet like mad. For the next five years, anyway. Crazy 4 Comic Con, quoting FOX 5 San Diego, reports that Comic Con International will stay in San Diego for the next five years.
I’m SO pleased to hear this, and not just because the Fanfiancé’s family lives near San Diego, heh. I love the feel of the city, and I think Comic Con would lose some of its mellow and fun if it were moved to Los Angeles or Anaheim. And honestly, con-goers would run into the same set of problems (parking, hotels, etc) anywhere. Might as well keep it in awesome San Diego. Hooray!

Lucasfilm has announced that it is converting all six Star Wars movies to 3D, with Episode One: The Phantom Menace to hit theatres in 2012.
I’m not the biggest fan of the recent 3D craze. Sure, Avatar was pretty amazing, but that’s because James Cameron spent a shit ton of time and money pioneering new technology to make 3D into something more than a gimmick. The 2D-to-3D-let’s-charge-more-for-a-ticket trend has been less than amazing, and I pretty much refuse to see any movie in 3D when I can see it in 2D.
But if anyone can convert a 2D film into 3D and have it look good, it’s probably ILM. Does this mean I’m going to go see Star Wars in 3D?
I wish I could say “Hell no!” with confidence, because I’ll probably cave and go see the original trilogy. (Are you happy, George Lucas? You’ve got your grubby fingers deep in my wallet!) I certainly won’t go see the prequels, though. I’ve seen The Phantom Menace a lot–hey, I was living on base in Germany when it was released, it was the only thing playing in the theatre on base, and it was $2 to get in. Sue me. ;) And really, I only watched it so much because I was… er, really into slashing Qui-Gon and Obi-Wan.
I admire George Lucas for all of the technological innovations he’s brought to moviemaking, and for having some amazing ideas that have turned into amazing franchises. But this 3D thing just stinks of money-grubbing to me. [shrug]
On the other hand, maybe this’ll create a whole new generation of Star Wars fangirls and -boys. Who knows?

INF Daily has posted the first pics of Chris Evans as Steve Rogers (sorry for the misleading title; I’d say Cap’s a more recognizable name than Steve, eh?). Here’s one:
Aside from the weird prosthetic feet, he looks pretty convincing. He’s bulked up a lot through the shoulders, and the dorky haircut makes him almost unrecognizable. What do you think?

 Looks like it’s official; Chris Evans has signed on to play Captain America in Marvel’s upcoming movie.
I’ve got to admit, I’ve never really paid much attention to Cap, so I don’t have any strong feelings either way. I like Evans well enough. I do think the fan comments along the lines of “OMG he’s too shallow to play Cap, did you see him as Johnny Storm” are funny, though. I mean, the guy is an actor. One would hope he can play more than one type of character. ;)
In closing, I just got completely distracted by that image.
What are your thoughts? On the casting or on the image, heh.
