I’ve discovered a few new podcasts since the last time I updated this feature (sorry, real life is a huge distraction). I have been able to keep up with the blog’s Pinterest account, however, and you can find these and other podcasts on the “Have You Heard?” board.
First, we have the Nerdist Network’s Bizarre States podcast (formerly, Spooky Shit). Jessica Chobot and Andrew Bowser host the weekly show that features guests and listener-submitted stories. It isn’t strictly paranormal, but that does feature heavily in a lot of the episodes, such as their special “Meltdown Overnight” episode where they stay at the purportedly haunted Meltdown Comics store in L.A. with some spoooooooooooky results. You can listen to the episode or watch it below:
The second new addition to my podcast subscription is Cameron Esposito’s Put Your Hands Together. As a huge comedy fan, this is the podcast that keeps on giving. Every week features the audio from the UCB stand-up show. Essentially, listeners get a free comedy show with some great names (and my personal favorites) like Guy Branum, Jackie Kashian, Dana Gould, Erin Foley, and Eliza Skinner. Cameron is great and super energetic, so listening to her always puts a smile on my face. You can also check out her other podcast devoted to action and sci-fi movies, Wham Bam Pow.
And just this week, I learned about Siouxsie Q’s sex industry podcast, The WhoreCast (formerly “This American Whore”). The show is a fun and informative way to get to know sex workers and performers in the adult industry as well as the political aspect of things (sex workers rights, anti-trafficking, and removing the social stigma of being a slut). If you’re a fan of Sex Nerd Sandra or are just curious about the lives of sex workers, you’ll love this podcast.
Last week, The Dork Forest welcomed artist Page Branson to share her love of Sailor Moon. She hosts her own Agent Carter/Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D./Marvel TV podcast, Level 7 Access. I’ll need to give Level 7 a listen after I get caught up on AoS, however, yay more ladies talking about Marvel stuff!
