History is full of odd practices and traditions, and the history of medicine isn’t any different. Join Dr. Sydnee McElroy and her husband, Justin, as they delve into the weird (and sometimes gross) medical practices of yesteryear on Sawbones. I spent the past couple days going through their entire backlog of episodes and loved it. Most of the topics are safe for work/young ears and keep the graphic detail to a minimum. I’m squeamish about certain things and only once had to skip past a description of a procedure (in this week’s episode about C-sections). That being said, it’s a funny, informative podcast that my fellow history nerds should definitely check out.
The X-Files was my first online fandom and still is one of my favorite shows of all time, so I was excited to see that Kumail Nanjiani has created a podcast dedicated to the show. It’s only a couple episodes in, so you won’t need to spend a lot of time getting caught up in time for the next one. Seasoned X-Philes and newcomers alike will love this podcast. Marvel fans will recognize the “Tooms” episode’s guest as the Apple Store guy in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, aka D.C. Pierson.
