I have a pet peeve when it comes to paranormal romance. I can’t stand it when authors stick a couple of vampires into what is basically chick lit and call it paranormal. You see, I didn’t get into paranormal romance as a fan of romance novels. I like urban fantasy… Read more »

Review: Wolverine: Coyote Crossing
This isn’t a storyline that does much to advance the Wolverine mythos. It’s not about his past or his returning memories or his eternal fight with Sabretooth or anything like that. It’s a stand-alone storyline in which Wolvie is forced to face the fact that he’s stuck somewhere between being… Read more »

Gonna Be Quiet
I just started a new job that’s an hour-and-a-half’s commute away (on a good day), so Ye Olde Blog is likely to be fairly quiet until I can move closer. My poor internets, I hardly get to see you anymore! [sniffle]

Review: Fables Vol. 1: Legends in Exile
I’ve wanted to start reading Fables for quite a while. A friend of mine did some of her Master’s work on the series, and I’m all about fairy tales and modern adaptations. So I was overjoyed when my boyfriend gave me Fables Vol. 1: Legends in Exile as a graduation… Read more »

Movie Review: Waitress
I have a confession. I love Nathan Fillion. The first time I saw him as Captain Malcolm Reynolds on Joss Whedon’s Firefly, I fell head over heels. “Comics court girls inspired by Japanese manga.” While I think it’s great that comic companies are finally starting to acknowledge that girls, in fact, to read comics, I’m not sure they’re going about directing their marketing at females in the right way. First of all, they’re focusing on teenage girls… Read more »

Book Review: Forbidden Magic by Cheyenne McCray
If there’s one thing I hate in the world, it’s not finishing a book. I hate starting a book and not being able to make it all the way through. It drives me nuts. But Forbidden Magic is making me nuttier. It started out interestingly enough. Spiffy concept, Irish mythology,… Read more »

goodreads
Anyone on goodreads? It’s spiffy; you add books to be read, books you’re reading, etc, and can review and discuss them with friends. Here’s my profile. Add me, or point me toward your profile and I’ll add you. :)

How many Mummies do we need, really?
I have a confession to make. I adore The Mummy. I think it’s funny and entertaining, awesomely tongue-in-cheek. Rachel Weisz and John Hannah make the movie, and Brendan Fraser… well, he’s pretty and funny and is good at looking confused. Rachel’s character, Evelyn Carnahan, is one of my favorite movie… Read more »

Bonjour!
Ah, the inaugural post. You know, the one where the blogger has no fracking clue what to say, other than, “HERE I AM OMG.” So… here I am. omg. I’m TDF. I’m a fan, I’m of the female persuasion, and I’m discriminating. So… that would make me The Discriminating Fangirl…. Read more »
